KARACHI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has intensified its crackdown against drug trafficking around educational institutions and in different cities across the country, arresting four suspects and recovering 167.1 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs18 million in six separate operations.
According to the ANF, one kilogram of ice was recovered from a motorcycle rider near a university in Tando Jam, Hyderabad district. The arrested suspect allegedly confessed to selling drugs to students of educational institutions.
In another operation, ANF officials recovered 1.9kg of ice from a parcel booked for New Zealand at a courier office in Rawalpindi. The narcotics had allegedly been absorbed into a waistcoat.
At a courier office on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi, 4.2kg of ice concealed in shoes was recovered from a parcel destined for the United Kingdom.
Near Sarnan in Pishin district, ANF personnel recovered 60kg of hashish and 12kg of ice concealed in apple crates loaded on a truck and arrested one suspect.
In another operation near Garmkan Road in Panjgur district, 48kg of hashish was recovered from a vehicle and two suspects were arrested.
Separately, ANF recovered 40kg of opium concealed in bushes near Dalbandin in Chagai district.
The ANF said cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Anti-Narcotics Act and further investigations are underway.
