Bridge Consultants Foundation Expands Drug-Resistant TB Awareness Campaign in Sindh

KARACHI: Bridge Consultants Foundation has expanded its awareness campaign on Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB) in Sindh by extending outreach activities to the general public through health facilities, in addition to its ongoing work with TB patients and vulnerable communities.

The organization has been working on Drug-Resistant TB awareness with TB clients and treatment groups across 15 districts of Sindh. As part of its outreach strategy, special awareness sessions were also conducted with members of the transgender community to improve understanding of the disease and encourage timely diagnosis and treatment adherence.

After targeting the transgender community and raising awareness among TB patients, the foundation has now also started public health awareness activities at healthcare facilities. These activities aim to reach the general public and educate communities about the symptoms, prevention, and early diagnosis of Drug-Resistant TB.

Under the initiative, detailed awareness sessions are being conducted in the TB departments of health facilities where clients receive comprehensive information about Drug-Resistant TB. During these sessions, patients are properly guided about their disease, informed about the importance of completing their treatment, and educated on preventive measures.

Informational pamphlets are also being distributed among patients and visitors so they can better understand the nature of the disease and the importance of adhering to the prescribed treatment regimen.
Public health experts emphasize that increasing community awareness and strengthening patient education are critical steps in controlling Drug-Resistant TB, as early diagnosis and proper treatment play a key role in preventing further spread of the disease.
