Doctors, Paramedical Staff Protest Acid Attack on Woman Doctor in Quetta

KARACHI: Doctors and paramedical staff of The Modern Hospital staged protests in Karachi and Hyderabad against the acid attack on woman doctor Dr. Mah Noor in Quetta, demanding justice and enhanced security for healthcare professionals.

A protest demonstration was held outside The Modern Hospital in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, where doctors, nurses and paramedical staff expressed solidarity with the victim and called for a transparent investigation into the incident.

The protesters said attacks on healthcare workers are unacceptable and pose a serious threat to the healthcare system. They urged the authorities to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.

Addressing the demonstration, Director Operations of The Modern Hospital Dr. Suhail Ahmed Abbasi and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Al-Kausar University, Dr. Minhaj Qidwai, said doctors risk their lives to serve the public but continue to work without adequate security and protection.

They called on the government to ensure effective security arrangements in hospitals and introduce legislation for the protection of healthcare workers.

The speakers warned that failure to prevent such incidents would create fear among medical professionals and negatively affect healthcare services. They also cautioned that the scope of protests could be expanded if their demands were not addressed.

Participants carried placards and banners bearing slogans in support of justice for Dr. Mah Noor and greater protection for healthcare workers.
