ICCBS Scholars Visit Fauji Fertilizer Company to Strengthen Academia–Industry Linkages

KARACHI: A group of scholars from the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, recently visited the Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) in Karachi as part of an initiative to expose students to industrial environments and strengthen academia–industry collaboration.

According to an ICCBS spokesperson, the visit was the third industrial exposure program organized under an initiative launched by ICCBS Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, aimed at providing practical insight into industrial operations and fostering closer ties between academic research and industry.

The visiting delegation, coordinated by Dr. Hina Siddiqui along with other ICCBS officials, comprised M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars from the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research and the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, both constituent institutes of ICCBS.

During the visit, experts from Fauji Fertilizer Company briefed the scholars on how academic research is integrated into industrial practices, with a particular focus on the use of modern technologies to improve productivity and promote sustainability.

The briefing was followed by a guided tour of various sections of the facility.

The scholars also participated in interactive sessions with departmental heads, gaining insights into product development processes, operational workflows, and ongoing research and innovation initiatives at the company.

The ICCBS spokesperson said the visit offered a valuable learning experience for the scholars by helping them understand the real-world applications of their academic work.

The ICCBS delegation expressed appreciation to the management of Fauji Fertilizer Company for their cooperation and guidance.

Under the ICCBS Director’s initiative, similar industrial visits will continue in the future to further strengthen academia–industry linkages and open avenues for potential collaborative research.
