Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), a renowned medical institution in Pakistan, honored seven distinguished leaders of Pakistani healthcare with Lifetime Achievement Awards. The awards recognized JSMU alumni whose decades of surgical innovation, clinical excellence, and medical education have transformed patient outcomes nationwide.
Lifetime Achievement Awards were conferred to Prof. Dr. Tanveer Rab (Cardiologist, Professor of Medicine and Master Clinician at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia), Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain Hashmi (Urologist at SIUT), Dr. Qaiser Sajjad (Honorary Secretary PMA and ENT specialist), Prof. Dr. Shahid Sami (Cardiologist at Southcity and AKUH), Prof. Dr. Noshad Shaikh (General Surgeon at Southcity Hospital), Prof. Dr. Rubina Hussain (Gynaecologist at Ziauddin Hospital) and Prof. Dr. Aasim Ahmed (Nephrologist at Kidney Centre).
The ceremony was graced by distinguished Guests of Honor, including Prof. Hamid Shafqat (renowned Cardiologist), Prof. Zeenat Isani (renowned Pediatrician), Prof. Sadiqa Jaffrey (renowned Gynecologist), Prof. Dr. Alay Hasan Zaidi (renowned Pathologist) and Prof. Dr. Hasan Fatima Jafri (Gynecologist).
Prof. Adeebul Hasan Rizvi, the renowned Founder of SIUT, delivered an inspiring video message, highlighting JSMU's pivotal role in producing healthcare leaders who have transformed patient outcomes across Pakistan.
"It is a pride to honor the alumni of SMC-JSMU who served humanity with compassion," said JSMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon. He announced that JSMU will continue to hold such ceremonies to recognize the achievements of its alumni.
"These esteemed alumni have made remarkable contributions to their respective fields, pioneering new surgical techniques, delivering exceptional patient care, and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals," said Dr. Rahat Naz, Chair of Alumni Affairs, in her welcome address.
Dr. Javed Suleman, Interventional Cardiologist and SMC Alumni, a key figure in the transformation of SMC into JSMU, shared his journey and experiences as a graduate, highlighting the spirit of camaraderie and lifelong learning instilled by JSMU.
Registrar JSMU Dr. Azam Khan gave Vote of Thanks. The ceremony brought together healthcare professionals, JSMU alumni, faculty members and students, fostering a deep sense of pride and unity within the medical community.
