Liaquat National Hospital delegation visits ICCBS to explore collaboration

KARACHI: A high-level delegation from Liaquat National Hospital visited the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, to explore avenues for academic, research, and clinical collaboration.

The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Salman Faridi, Medical Director of Liaquat National Hospital, and included Prof. Dr. Saleha Anwar, Assistant Medical Director. They were received by Prof. Dr. Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, who welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the institution’s mandate, research infrastructure, and national and international contributions through a detailed presentation. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan and other senior researchers of ICCBS were also present.

Prof. Dr. Salman Faridi appreciated the advanced infrastructure and research environment at ICCBS and emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic research institutions and clinical healthcare providers. Detailed discussions were held on potential areas of cooperation between ICCBS and Liaquat National Hospital, and it was mutually agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed to formalize joint academic, research, and clinical initiatives.

During the visit, the delegation also toured key facilities, including the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory, where they were briefed on ongoing research and diagnostic work. Prof. Dr. Faridi and Prof. Dr. Saleha Anwar expressed satisfaction over the technical standards, professional practices, and quality of work being carried out at the facility.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening institutional linkages and promoting joint efforts in research, diagnostics, and capacity building.
