KARACHI: A delegation of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Karachi Division, led by Divisional President Dr. Shaharyar Raza, along with General Secretary Dr. Hamza Sohail, Consultant Coordinator Dr. Waseem Imtiaz, Spokesperson Dr. Ummul Khair Shah, and Deputy Secretary Dr. Baseer Khan, met with Director Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Dr. Faisal Samdhani, to discuss the ongoing issues regarding doctors’ stipends and salaries. Dr. Rana Dildar from the YDA Central Cabinet was also present at the meeting.

During the discussion, the YDA delegation raised concerns over delayed salary disbursements and stressed the importance of timely payments for doctors. Director Dr. Faisal Samdhani assured the delegation that all pending salaries will be adjusted with upcoming payments on a rolling basis, ensuring a more structured and predictable disbursement process.

Following these assurances, OPD services at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital continued without disruption. The YDA also expresses its gratitude to Mayor Karachi for his efforts in resolving these financial matters.

Another key issue addressed was the discrepancy in resident doctors’ salaries at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Currently, residents receive PKR 75,000, significantly lower than the PKR 104,000 standard stipend set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). Director Dr. Faisal Samdhani assured the YDA Karachi Divisional President that this matter will be resolved and the stipend will be increased to PKR 104,000, effective from July.

The YDA also appreciates Director Dr. Faisal Samdhani’s commitment to improving hospital infrastructure, including upgrading ICU facilities, ensuring ventilator availability, and making MRI and CT scan services accessible for patients. While these advancements are commendable, we urge the administration to extend the same dedication to enhancing the working conditions and well-being of the doctors serving at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The YDA Karachi Division remains committed to advocating for the rights of doctors, ensuring they receive fair compensation, timely payments, and improved working conditions. We will continue working closely with the hospital administration and relevant authorities to ensure these commitments are fulfilled.

After talks with director opd resumed at Abbasi shaheed Hospital today.
