KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) JPMC Unit has announced a protest for Thursday at 12:30 PM outside the Surgical Complex, OPD Tower, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), demanding payment of pending salaries and an increase in doctors’ salaries in line with other provinces.

The decision was finalised during a meeting of the YDA JPMC Unit attended by house officers from different wards of JPMC and representatives of house officers from various medical colleges.
According to the association, the meeting discussed the future course of action and strategy for the protest. The YDA JPMC Unit said it would remain united in its struggle for the legitimate rights of doctors.
The association said doctors working in Sindh, particularly at JPMC, were receiving lower salaries compared with doctors working in the other three provinces. It further claimed that JPMC doctors had not received their salaries for the past three months, causing serious financial difficulties for doctors and their families.
The YDA demanded fair salaries, timely payment of monthly salaries and an increase in doctors’ remuneration to bring it at par with other provinces.
The association called upon all medical officers, house officers and postgraduate residents working at JPMC to participate in Thursday’s protest in full strength.
“This protest is for your rights, your salaries and your future,” the YDA JPMC Unit said, urging doctors to unite for their demands.
