Clerks association stages protest at Jinnah hospital Karachi

KARACHI: The Clerks Association at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) staged a protest outside the hospital’s administration block on Tuesday, chanting slogans and demanding immediate resolution of long-pending promotion issues.

Protesters raised slogans against the appointment of outside officers on promotional posts, calling for the restoration of account rights and fair departmental promotions. The employees voiced frustration over what they termed as “administrative injustice” and neglect by the hospital management.

President of the Clerks Association, Mahmood Ali, said that departmental promotions (DPs) have not been cleared for the last 10 years despite multiple assurances. “Even after the issuance of a letter from the hospital director, the issue remains unresolved,” he said, adding that posts meant for promotions are being filled through external appointments in violation of rules.

He urged the Sindh Health Secretary to ensure that the complete departmental promotion process is finalized without delay. Mahmood Ali further warned that if the legitimate demands of the employees are not accepted, the association will approach the court for justice.
