KARACHI: The 1st International Congress on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICNN-1) will commence at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, on Monday (August 18–20, 2025).
Rehan Iqbal Baloch, Provincial Health Secretary, Government of Sindh, will inaugurate the congress. The hybrid global event is set to host more than 600 national and international scientists, making it a landmark gathering in the field of advanced scientific research.
Presiding over a review meeting at ICCBS, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, said the aim of the congress is to unite global experts in nanoscience and nanotechnology to forge collaborative partnerships for the benefit of humanity. He noted that the event will serve as a platform for extensive interaction among scholars and researchers worldwide, opening new avenues of scientific cooperation.
The inaugural ceremony will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Prof. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium, ICCBS. Dignitaries expected to address the gathering include:
- Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqi, Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi (Guest of Honour)
- Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Professor Emeritus and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology
- Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director, ICCBS
- Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General, OIC-COMSTECH
- Ms. Nadira Panjwani, Chairperson, Dr. Panjwani Memorial Trust

The three-day event is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening regional and global research collaborations in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
