CPSP Marks 78th Independence Day and “Marka-e-Haq” Victory with Patriotic Fervour

KARACHI: The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day and the recent “Marka-e-Haq” victory with a grand ceremony at its Karachi headquarters, attended by CPSP councillors, fellows, faculty, and staff.

The event began with Quran recitation, followed by the national flag hoisting and anthem. CPSP Secretary Prof. Irshad Waheed, along with Prof. Abdulah El Muttaqi, Prof. Khalid Ahmed Ashrafi, Prof. Muhammad Masroor, and other speakers, highlighted the sacrifices of the Pakistan Movement, paid tribute to the martyrs, and reaffirmed support for the Armed Forces.

Chief Guest Prof. Hassan Mehdi praised Pakistan’s Islamic foundations and its protection of minority rights, lauded the military’s role in countering terrorism, and urged national unity. CPSP President Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, addressing from Lahore, congratulated the nation on both Independence Day and the success of Operation “Bunyad-e-Marsos,” citing the downing of six Indian aircraft as a testament to the Armed Forces’ capability. He also underscored CPSP’s transformation into an interest-free institution and its expansion of regional centres to strengthen medical education.

Simultaneous celebrations were held via Zoom at CPSP regional centres nationwide, including Lahore and Islamabad. The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting, prayers for national unity and prosperity, and a reaffirmation of CPSP’s commitment to serving Pakistan through excellence in medical education.
