KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani scientist and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, has said that only sincere and honest leaders can play a pivotal role in the growth and development of Pakistan.

Speaking at a special ceremony titled “Independence Celebration” at the Prof. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, on Wednesday, he urged young scientists to pledge on this Independence Day to steer the country toward progress through excellence in science. The event was organized by ICCBS and attended by a large number of faculty members, staff, and students.
Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman stressed that Pakistan must make remarkable progress in education and science to achieve the true objectives of national development.
Addressing the gathering, ICCBS Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah said the country’s bright future rests on scientific and educational advancement. He emphasized that the solution to Pakistan’s problems lies in substantial progress in higher education, science, and technology, urging the youth to work diligently in these fields. Referring to recent conflicts between Pakistan and India, and between Iran and Israel, he noted that these have underscored the global importance of education, science, and technology.
Earlier, Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman and Prof. Muhammad Raza Shah, along with faculty, staff, and students, hoisted the national flag at ICCBS and cut an Independence Day cake. The ceremony also featured speeches, poetry, and patriotic songs paying tribute to the founders of Pakistan and those who sacrificed their lives for freedom.
