KARACHI: Senior journalist Akhtar Shaheen Rind hosted an Iftar in honor of health reporters at the Karachi Press Club, where an ad hoc committee of the Health Reporters Association was also announced.
According to details, the Iftar gathering was attended by health reporters affiliated with television channels, digital platforms, and newspapers. Secretary General of the Karachi Union of Journalists, Sardar Liaquat Kashmiri, also participated in the event and assured his full support.
During the gathering, participants discussed the challenges faced by health reporters in the line of professional duty. It was collectively agreed that unity among health reporters is the need of the hour, which will also help enhance their professional capacity and effectiveness.
On the occasion, the ad hoc committee of the Health Reporters Association was announced, with Akhtar Shaheen Rind appointed as Convener and Imran Pirzada as Deputy Convener. Other members of the committee include Ibrahim Rind, Abid Khan, Bilal Tahir, Safdar Butt, Yasir Saleem, Pawan Kumar, Anum Mashkoor, Imdad Soomro, Nasrullah Jamali, Raja Irshad Asadi, Wasim Hashmi, Rizwan Jalali, and Maria Ismail Memon.
It was further decided that the membership drive will continue until March 25. Following the completion of the membership process, elections will be held to form the first cabinet of the Health Reporters Association.
