ICCBS signs MoU with National Textile University to boost research collaboration

KARACHI: The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Textile University (NTU), Faisalabad, aimed at strengthening cooperation in academics and research.

The agreement was formally signed during a ceremony held at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry. Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah, Director of ICCBS, and Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood, Rector of NTU, represented their respective institutions at the signing.

Prof. Dr. Raza Shah highlighted the importance of academic partnerships, stating that collaboration is vital for promoting scientific excellence and building stronger research networks across Pakistan. He noted that ICCBS is one of the country’s leading centers of excellence in chemical, biological, and biochemical sciences, serving as a key hub for training scholars from various countries.

Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood said that since its establishment, NTU has been Pakistan’s premier institute for textile education, producing the technical and managerial human resources required by the textile industry. He emphasized NTU’s mission to contribute to sustainable socio-economic development and the welfare of humanity through education, research, and innovation in nationally important sectors—particularly textiles and clothing.

Under the MoU, both institutions will support each other in research and development initiatives. The partnership aims to enhance scientific knowledge, foster innovation, and strengthen academic linkages for the benefit of students, faculty, and researchers, ultimately contributing to societal advancement.
