KARACHI: The University of Karachi and Seattle-based health-tech company EZShifa Pvt. Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at providing affordable healthcare facilities to the community through cutting-edge digital technology. The agreement was inked on Thursday at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat between the KU Department of Psychology and EZShifa.

EZShifa Chief Operating Officer Adnan Siddiquie said the company is among Pakistan’s pioneering health-tech service providers and that the partnership seeks to reduce healthcare costs through advanced computerized medical devices, AI-based systems, and the expertise of certified professionals. He informed participants that EZShifa’s solutions include Digital Clinics, HAWWA pregnancy management system, EZScreening for students and corporate entities, EZDiag diagnostic modules, and EZCounseling for mental well-being, offering complete patient anonymity. All devices used by the company are DRAP-approved with CE and FDA certifications, while patient data is protected under a voluntary HIPAA-compliant system.
Emphasizing the importance of mental well-being, Siddiquie noted that a mentally healthy individual contributes more effectively to society. Acting KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harris Shoaib appreciated EZShifa’s vision for accessible healthcare and said KU faculty and students would support the initiative. He observed that healthcare in Pakistan remains unnecessarily expensive and expressed hope that such digital platforms would contribute to delivering better and more affordable services.
