Executive Director JPMC Dr. Shahid Rasul passes away

KARACHI: The medical fraternity in Pakistan was deeply shocked on Friday by the sudden death of Dr. Shahid Rasul, the Executive Director of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Hospital officials confirmed his passing after a cardiac emergency at his residence.

According to JPMC officials, Dr. Rasul suffered a heart attack at home and was shifted to the National Medical Centre. Doctors confirmed that he had passed away, though it is not yet clear whether he was brought dead or expired after reaching the hospital. Details about his family are still awaited. Dr. Shahid Rasul was one of the most respected general surgeons in Sindh, known for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to public healthcare. As Executive Director of JPMC, he oversaw one of the largest and busiest tertiary-care hospitals in the country, playing a central role in hospital administration, service expansion, and patient care delivery. His leadership earned him deep respect among doctors, nurses, staff, and patients.

Before taking charge as ED JPMC, Dr. Rasul served as Pro Vice-Chancellor at Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), where he significantly contributed to medical education, postgraduate training, and institutional development. He mentored hundreds of young doctors and was widely admired for his soft-spoken nature, ethical conduct, and dedication to teaching and clinical excellence.
