Mayor Murtaza Wahab Directs Swift Upgrade of Spencer Eye Hospital

KARACHI: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab visited Spencer Eye Hospital to review ongoing development and renovation work, directing officials to accelerate the pace of repairs and upgradation.

During the visit, the mayor conducted a detailed inspection of the progress and emphasized that, alongside improving the city’s infrastructure, upgrading hospitals operating under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation remains a top priority to ensure quality healthcare services are provided to citizens at their doorstep.

He stated that upon completion of renovation and upgrade work, the hospital will offer modern eye treatment facilities. The restoration of the Outpatient Department (OPD) is progressing swiftly, and it is expected to become fully operational by the end of Ramadan. Additionally, the operation theatre is scheduled to be fully functional by the first week of April to facilitate timely treatment for patients.
The mayor stressed that all available resources are being utilized transparently so that development and healthcare-related initiatives remain clear and accountable to the public. He further noted that following successful public-private partnership projects, additional healthcare facilities will be introduced in the sector.

On the occasion, he directed Senior Director Health KMC, Dr. Mahwish Mithani, to further enhance medical facilities at the hospital and continue taking effective measures to improve the standard of treatment for patients.
