LAHORE: The Pakistan Eye Donation Welfare Society (PEDWS) has achieved a major milestone in global eye health by securing membership in the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA).
With this achievement, the Society now holds membership in three leading international organizations:
- Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA)
- European Eye Bank Association (EEBA)
- Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society
This recognition marks a proud moment for Pakistan’s growing role in the global mission of restoring sight. Through these collaborations, the Society will now be able to receive corneal donations not only from Sri Lanka but also from the United States and Europe.
Chairman Yasin Joya, who also serves as Honorary Consul General of Sri Lanka in Punjab, termed the development a significant step in “corneal diplomacy,” strengthening Pakistan’s presence in international health cooperation.
By expanding partnerships with renowned eye bank networks, the Pakistan Eye Donation Welfare Society is set to enhance access to corneal transplants, bringing hope and vision to countless patients in need.
