KARACHI: The planned grand protest against the brutal murder of Dr. Mehwish has been postponed following instructions from the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Center. The demonstration was jointly planned by the PMA, the Young Doctors Association (YDA), and representatives of civil society, and was scheduled to take place on Monday at 3:00 PM at the Karachi Press Club.
According to organizers, the protest aimed to express solidarity with the bereaved family and to demand justice, including strict punishment for those responsible for the killing. Media representatives from electronic and print outlets had been invited to cover the demonstration.
However, citing the current national situation, the PMA Center issued an urgent notice directing all provincial bodies and branches to postpone the protest scheduled for March 2, 2026, until further notice. The association has urged its members to immediately disseminate the update.
In its statement, the PMA reaffirmed solidarity with the affected family and stated that it shares in their grief while continuing to advocate for justice.
