School Awareness Drive Promotes Cleanliness and Environmental Responsibility in Karachi

KARACHI: On the directives of Managing Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) Tariq Ali Nizamani, an environmental awareness and cleanliness campaign was organized at Manak Government Boys and Girls Secondary School in District East, Karachi. The initiative aimed to educate students about cleanliness, waste responsibility, and environmental protection.

As part of the activity, students, teachers, and SSWMB staff participated in an awareness walk, carrying banners and posters highlighting the importance of cleanliness and proper waste disposal. The programme also included painting activities and plantation drives, encouraging students to express environmental messages creatively and contribute practically by planting saplings within the school premises.

Addressing the students, Media Consultant Izhar Ahmed said that the gathering was meant to understand environmental protection and collective responsibility. He emphasized that participants should pledge to adopt environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives. He added that the enthusiasm and active participation of students made the event meaningful and impactful. He further stated that the objective of these activities was to promote responsible waste disposal and reinforce the message that managing waste is a shared responsibility.

Deputy Director District East, Naveed Laghari, while interacting with students and school administration, appreciated the cooperation of the school management. He thanked them on behalf of the Managing Director SSWMB for playing their role in environmental improvement and for organizing the programme with dedication. He noted that small actions can lead to significant change, whether it is reducing waste, recycling, or spreading awareness. He urged students to share what they learned with others and to actively contribute towards reducing pollution, reusing materials, and keeping their surroundings clean, green, and healthy.
