SIUT to Reach One Million Women with Breast Cancer Awareness Message

KARACHI: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and Santex Products (Pvt.) Limited have joined hands to launch a three-month breast cancer awareness campaign aimed at reaching one million women with information about breast cancer awareness and early detection.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. Lamiya Rizvi, Trustee, SIUT Trust, and Feroz Mujtaba Rahman, Director Operations, Santex Products (Pvt.) Limited, to formally launch the initiative.

The campaign, which will run from October to December 2026, will focus on raising awareness about breast cancer, encouraging timely breast self-examination and providing women with credible and easily accessible health information.

Under the initiative, breast cancer awareness inserts carrying a QR code will be included in Santex sanitary napkin packs. The QR code will connect women to an educational breast self-check video developed by SIUT.

The campaign will encourage women to make breast self-examination part of their monthly routine, particularly three to four days after the end of their menstrual cycle.

The collaboration combines SIUT's medical expertise and commitment to providing free quality healthcare with dignity with Santex's consumer reach, enabling the awareness message to reach women directly in their everyday lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lamiya Rizvi said the ambition to reach one million women reflected SIUT's commitment to taking credible health information beyond healthcare settings and into communities.

She said awareness and timely attention could play an important role in encouraging women to seek medical advice when needed.

The initiative is expected to help strengthen awareness about the importance of early detection and encourage women to take a more proactive approach towards their breast health.
