KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh has called for transparency, merit and fairness in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), saying that genuine concerns raised by students should be addressed through a transparent and responsible process.

According to YDA Sindh, several complaints have been received from students regarding the recent MDCAT examination, particularly concerning discrepancies in the answer keys for approximately 10 to 20 questions. Several professors have also expressed concerns regarding the disputed questions and their answer keys.
YDA Sindh said that sharing the question paper or booklet with students and the public through an appropriate process can help clarify misunderstandings, address genuine grievances and strengthen public confidence in the examination process.
The association has recommended that the relevant authorities convene a meeting of subject experts and professors to thoroughly review the disputed questions, verify the answer keys and issue corrected keys wherever necessary.
YDA Sindh Chairman Dr. Mehboob Noonari, President Dr. Roshan Chandio and other senior members said that intelligence, competence and merit must not be associated with ethnicity, language or regional identity.
They said the use of ethnic or divisive language in an academic matter sends a negative message to society and undermines unity and mutual respect. Every student, they added, deserves equal treatment and an opportunity based solely on merit.
YDA Sindh Chairman Dr. Mehboob Noonari urged the relevant authorities to address students’ grievances fairly, ensure transparency in the MDCAT process and protect the credibility of the medical admissions system.
