ISLAMABAD: A consultative meeting on the “One Health Joint Action Plan (ICT) & Rapid Assessment of One Health Legislation” was held at Islamabad Club, bringing together key stakeholders from multiple sectors to strengthen coordinated action under the One Health approach.
The meeting brought together representatives and stakeholders from human health, animal health, food safety, environment and wildlife sectors to review existing frameworks and identify policy, legislative, institutional and coordination gaps affecting effective multisectoral collaboration.
Participants discussed the need for stronger coordination among relevant sectors and institutions and shared recommendations aimed at developing a practical and context-specific One Health Joint Action Plan for Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The consultation also focused on the rapid assessment of existing One Health-related legislation to identify areas where the legal and regulatory environment could be strengthened to facilitate coordinated multisectoral action.
According to the organisers, recommendations emerging from the consultation will contribute to the development of the One Health Joint Action Plan and help strengthen the enabling environment for collaboration across human, animal and environmental health sectors.
The consultative meeting was associated with the Health Services Academy, Government of Pakistan, as part of efforts to advance the One Health approach and improve collaboration among relevant stakeholders in Pakistan.
