KARACHI: A high-level review session titled “Lessons Learnt from the HPV Rollout” was convened under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Nighat Shah, bringing together gyneco-oncologists, public health professionals, and immunization experts to assess Pakistan’s first large-scale HPV vaccination initiative.

During the session, experts appreciated the strong community response and emphasised the importance of expanding HPV testing alongside vaccination to improve cervical cancer prevention strategies. They noted that the initiative has laid the foundation for stronger preventive healthcare mechanisms and stressed that early detection must go hand in hand with immunization.

Participants reiterated their commitment to advancing efforts for an HPV-Free Pakistan, underscoring that cervical cancer is both preventable and treatable if addressed through timely vaccination, testing, and awareness.

Stakeholders agreed that sustained collaboration between healthcare institutions, immunization programs, and community networks will be essential to safeguard women’s health across Pakistan.
