ICCBS, University of Karachi Holds Two-Day Workshop on SPSS Data Analysis

KARACHI: The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, organized a two-day hybrid workshop titled “Quantitative Data Analysis for Quality Control Using SPSS” at the L.E.J. National Science Information Center, University of Karachi.

The workshop was jointly organized by ICCBS and the Sindh Innovation Research and Education Network (SIREN). It aimed to provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on training in the use of SPSS for quantitative data analysis.

Dr. Ayaz ul Haq, Campus Director and Head of MS Programs at the University of Greater Manchester, Islamabad, served as the facilitator of the workshop.

Addressing the inaugural session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, University of Karachi, welcomed the guest speaker and highlighted the significance of the workshop. He said that organizing a workshop on Quantitative Data Analysis for Quality Control using SPSS is highly important for students of pure sciences, as it equips them with essential analytical, research, and professional skills.

He described ICCBS as a leading learning hub and noted that the international center is among the prominent centers of excellence in chemical, biological, and biochemical sciences. He added that the institution serves as a platform for research and training scholars from various countries.

During the workshop, Dr. Ayaz ul Haq informed participants that proficiency in statistical software packages is indispensable for quantitative research in the sciences. He explained that SPSS is one of the most widely used and powerful statistical software packages, offering a wide range of statistical procedures that help researchers summarize data and determine whether significant differences exist between groups, such as through t-tests and analysis of variance.

The workshop was attended by research scholars, students, scientists, professionals, and faculty members from universities affiliated with SIREN.
