ICCBS-Incubated Startup Secures USD 15 Million E-Commerce Deal with Chinese Firm

KARACHI: An incubated startup at the ICCBS Technology Park and Technology Incubation Center, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has secured a USD 15 million cross-border e-commerce agreement with a Chinese company, marking a significant achievement for Pakistan’s startup ecosystem.

Emerging Software Pvt. Ltd. signed the agreement with Shanghai Pingyuan-Tech Co., Ltd. during the Pakistan–China B2B Investment Conference held in Hangzhou, China. The conference was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Zhejiang Province Governor Liu Jie and focused on strengthening Pakistan-China cooperation in investment, technology transfer, industrial collaboration, and long-term economic partnerships.

According to CEO of Emerging Software Pvt. Ltd. Asad Khatri, the company officially signed the Cross-Border E-Commerce Channel Promotion Service Cooperation Agreement with the Chinese firm during the conference in the presence of senior government and business representatives from both countries.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of ICCBS, University of Karachi, congratulated the leadership of Emerging Software on achieving the milestone and described it as a positive reflection of the innovation and entrepreneurial potential being nurtured at the ICCBS Technology Park.

Asad Khatri said the agreement demonstrates the growing capabilities of Pakistan’s startup ecosystem and highlights the potential of locally developed technology companies to compete in international markets. He noted that the journey from incubation at the ICCBS Technology Park in Karachi to securing a major international business agreement in China reflects the value of mentorship, innovation, and sustained support for emerging enterprises.

He said the achievement reinforces the importance of providing young entrepreneurs with access to modern facilities, business guidance, and opportunities to engage with global markets.

An ICCBS spokesperson said the ICCBS Technology Park and Technology Incubation Center provides state-of-the-art facilities to startups, young entrepreneurs, and research and development units of established industries. Spread over more than 50,000 square feet, the facility is among the largest technology incubation centers in Pakistan and continues to play a key role in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-based business growth in the country.
