KARACHI: Patron-in-Chief of Young Doctors Association (YDA) Pakistan, Dr. Umar Sultan, has announced that a nationwide Black Day will be observed in all hospitals across Pakistan from Monday in protest against the tragic acid attack on Dr. Mah Noor in Quetta and in solidarity with doctors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who are protesting for their salaries and basic rights.
Dr. Umar Sultan termed the acid attack on Dr. Mah Noor a cowardly and inhumane act, stating that the incident has deeply shocked the entire medical community. He said the attack was not only directed at an individual doctor but was an attack on the entire healthcare fraternity and deserved the strongest possible condemnation.
He further expressed solidarity with doctors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who have been holding peaceful protests against the non-payment of salaries and the denial of their fundamental rights. He said the injustices faced by doctors in the province were unacceptable and required immediate attention from the relevant authorities.
Dr. Umar Sultan appealed to doctors across the country to observe Black Day by wearing black armbands as a symbol of protest and solidarity. He urged the medical community to stand united with Dr. Mah Noor and with their colleagues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in their struggle for justice, dignity, and professional rights.
The YDA leadership reiterated its demand for swift action against those responsible for the attack on Dr. Mah Noor and called upon the government to address the legitimate concerns of doctors to ensure a safe and respectful working environment for healthcare professionals throughout Pakistan.
