JSMU’s Forensic Medicine Department Hosts Educational Visit for Habib University Students

KARACHI: The Department of Forensic Medicine at Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) organized an educational visit for 20 Computer Science students from Habib University on 29th November 2025, providing them with a unique opportunity to explore the connection between technology and forensic science. The session began with a warm welcome by Prof. Sono Mal, Chairperson of the department, followed by remarks from Dr. Azam Khan, Registrar JSMU, who highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence and interdisciplinary learning.

During the visit, students toured the Forensic Museum, where faculty members — Dr. Javeria, Dr. Mansoor Ali, Dr. Arshad Khan, and Dr. Numera — conducted informative demonstrations. They explained postmortem biochemical changes, specimen analysis, decomposition patterns, and their significance in medicolegal investigations, offering practical insights into real forensic procedures.

The students were also given a guided tour of the mortuary, where they learned about operational protocols, ethical considerations, and real-time forensic workflows. The visit aimed to enhance awareness of forensic science among students from non-medical disciplines and encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration in emerging fields.

The Department of Forensic Medicine reaffirmed its commitment to fostering knowledge-sharing and promoting forensic science education among students from diverse academic backgrounds.
