PIMA Karachi Urges Parents to Ensure Timely Child Vaccination During World Immunization Week

KARACHI: President of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association Karachi, Dr. Syed Ahmer Hamid, has urged parents and guardians to complete their children’s immunization schedules, stressing that timely vaccination is essential for a healthy and secure future.

In his special message issued on the occasion of World Immunization Week, he said children’s health must remain a top priority, describing them as a sacred trust. He noted that vaccination is one of the most effective and scientifically proven methods of modern medicine, protecting children from multiple life-threatening diseases.

He highlighted that preventive healthcare is strongly emphasized in Islam, including seeking treatment and taking measures to avoid illness. Vaccination, he said, is a key preventive tool that safeguards children against diseases such as measles, polio, tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, pneumonia, diarrhea, rubella, typhoid, and HPV.

Dr. Hamid added that vaccines are safe, effective, and available free of cost at Expanded Programme on Immunization centers across Sindh. He warned that delays or refusal of vaccination can expose children to serious health risks, including permanent disability or death.

He urged parents to rely only on qualified medical professionals for guidance and to avoid misinformation, emphasizing that timely immunization not only protects individual children but also helps prevent the spread of diseases in society.
