ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has processed and issued 302,587 registration applications and certificates out of 304,819 received, achieving a clearance rate of over 99 percent as part of efforts to improve efficiency, transparency and service delivery for medical and dental professionals across the country.
According to official statistics released by the Council, the achievement reflects significant improvements in its digital registration system, administrative coordination and monitoring mechanisms under the leadership of PM&DC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj.
The Council stated that enhanced workflow management, proactive monitoring and timely handling of pending cases have helped streamline registration procedures and reduce unnecessary delays for doctors and dental professionals.
A major focus of the reforms has been to facilitate healthcare professionals through online services, eliminating the need for repeated visits to PM&DC offices. The digital registration portal enables applicants to complete registration-related formalities remotely, saving time, reducing travel expenses and minimising inconvenience, particularly for doctors working in hospitals and remote areas.
According to PM&DC Registration Portal statistics up to October 2026, the Council received 304,819 applications across various categories, of which 302,587 were successfully issued, leaving 2,232 applications yet to be issued.
The data shows that 90,683 full-licence renewal applications were issued against 90,837 received, while 54,044 full licences were issued out of 54,620 applications.
Similarly, 51,702 provisional licences were issued against 51,736 applications, while 40,619 Good Standing Certificates were issued out of 40,630 requests received.
The Council also processed and issued 17,158 postgraduate qualification registrations out of 17,203 applications and 11,065 faculty registrations against 11,308 applications received.
Furthermore, 7,343 applications for foreign basic provisional licences for Pakistani nationals were issued out of 7,347 received.
PM&DC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj said the figures demonstrate the Council's commitment to institutional efficiency, transparency, accountability and timely facilitation of medical and dental professionals.
He emphasised that modernising registration operations remains a key priority, with particular attention to strengthening administrative oversight, improving processing timelines and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj further stated that the Council is committed to maintaining high regulatory standards while ensuring that registration services remain accessible, efficient and responsive to the needs of healthcare professionals.
The PM&DC has also strengthened its mechanism for identifying deficiencies and objections in applications at an early stage, allowing applicants to address outstanding requirements promptly and avoid unnecessary delays.
According to the Council, continuous improvements to the online registration portal and closer monitoring of application volumes, processing status and pending cases will further enhance service delivery.
The Council reiterated its commitment to regulatory excellence, digital transformation and improved facilitation of doctors and dental professionals while maintaining the standards expected of Pakistan's national medical and dental regulatory authority.
