HYDERABAD: The District Health Office (DHO) Hyderabad has reported the second confirmed case of Monkeypox (Mpox) in Sindh. The patient, a 28-year-old unmarried male, presented at a private healthcare facility with symptoms that began on September 15.
Health authorities confirmed that the clinical presentation was highly suggestive of Mpox, featuring widespread vascular lesions on the face, extremities, pharynx, and anal region. The patient also had a significant epidemiological history, including recent travel from Dubai and reported sexual contact with another male.
A clinical sample was collected for confirmatory testing, and an urgent field investigation was initiated. Contact tracing has been completed, and all identified contacts are currently under monitoring.
The health department has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected symptoms, while also emphasizing the importance of preventive measures and timely medical consultation.
