KARACHI: Acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, visited the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory (SFDL) at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, on Saturday.
Justice Rajput was received by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, and Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Professor Emeritus and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, along with senior ICCBS officials.
During the visit, the Acting Chief Justice held a meeting with the ICCBS administration, attended by Prof. Dr. Syed Abid Ali and Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan, In-charge and Project Director of SFDL, among others.
Prof. Dr. Raza Shah gave a detailed briefing on ICCBS’s research and scientific contributions, highlighting its journey from a small laboratory to a globally recognized center of excellence.
Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan shared the achievements of the SFDL, emphasizing its critical role in assisting police and prosecution departments in criminal investigations through advanced forensic science. He also briefed the delegation on the specialized training programs conducted for judges, prosecutors, investigating officers, medico-legal experts, and law enforcement personnel.
Expressing satisfaction over the laboratory’s performance, Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput appreciated the ICCBS administration for efficiently managing the SFDL and assured his full support for its ongoing and future initiatives.
