KARACHI: Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho inaugurated the Advanced Orthopedic Services and Phlebotomy Unit at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), marking another milestone in the province’s efforts to modernize public healthcare.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pechuho said the newly inaugurated units will provide world-class treatment to patients suffering from bone, joint, and sports-related injuries, as well as pediatric orthopedic disorders and musculoskeletal tumors.

“For the first time in the public sector, modern orthopedic subspecialty clinics and a dedicated phlebotomy unit have been established. This is the result of tireless efforts by the JPMC team,” she said.

During her visit, doctors briefed the Health Minister about the newly equipped operation theatres, clinics, and phlebotomy facilities, explaining how these additions will ensure timely and improved patient care. Dr. Pechuho also interacted with patients who have benefited from advanced surgical treatments.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, she said the Sindh Health Department is focused on expanding specialized surgical and diagnostic services to every district so that citizens no longer need to travel to major cities for treatment.
“These new units are a major gift from the Sindh government to the people,” she added. “With modern facilities, trained staff, and quality care, they will bring real change in people’s lives.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Amjad Siraj, Executive Director JPMC Prof. Shahid Rasool, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Nighat Shah, and other senior medical professionals.
Dr. Pechuho praised JPMC’s leadership for their dedication, calling the new units “a reflection of Sindh’s continuous journey toward accessible and advanced healthcare for all.”
