KARACHI: A powerful awareness event was held at the Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) under the theme “The Role of Students in Combating Drug Abuse.” The event featured Brigadier Umar Farooq, Regional Directorate Commander of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), as the chief guest. The gathering aimed to educate and empower students to play an active role in building a drug-free society.
Students participated enthusiastically, presenting impactful posters and creative expressions that highlighted the devastating effects of drug abuse. Brigadier Umar Farooq commended their passion and talent, stating, “These young minds have showcased tremendous creativity in a short time. Their engagement in such initiatives is vital for the future of our country.”
Mr. Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, Chancellor of Sir Syed University, also addressed the audience and lauded the initiative, emphasizing that “awareness about drug abuse is the need of the hour, and students have a critical role to play.”
The ceremony concluded with AIT awarding certificates to students for outstanding contributions. The ANF also announced the distribution of special recognition certificates to further encourage student efforts.
Convener Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim and Principal Shahid Jameel appreciated the students’ enthusiasm, remarking that such programs significantly contribute to nation-building and moral education.
