KARACHI: The Sindh Department of Health, in partnership with The Challenge Initiative (TCI) – Greenstar Social Marketing, inaugurated the renovated Sindh Government Dispensary (SGD), Bilal Colony, District Korangi, to strengthen family planning and essential healthcare services for underserved urban communities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Sindh Minister for Health and Population, senior officials of the Health Department, representatives of Greenstar Social Marketing, community leaders, and local stakeholders.

The renovated Bilal Colony dispensary has been equipped with a dedicated outpatient department (OPD), a separate family planning counseling and procedure room, an Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) room, and a pharmacy. The facility will provide round-the-clock services, including antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, outpatient treatment, and routine immunization.

As part of a nationwide transformation plan, more than 80 health and population facilities are being upgraded across Pakistan, including 50 in Sindh. The Bilal Colony center, previously one of the most underprivileged facilities, has now been modernized to ensure quality, accessibility, and client-centered care.

Greenstar TCI is working with the Department of Health and the Population Welfare Department to integrate family planning into essential healthcare services through system strengthening, technical support, and capacity building. By July 2025, TCI had contributed to generating over 337,000 additional family planning users across Pakistan, including more than 145,000 from Sindh.
The inauguration of the upgraded Bilal Colony dispensary marks an important step toward universal health coverage and institutionalizing family planning services as part of Pakistan’s essential healthcare system.
