KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Karachi convened a key meeting under the leadership of Dr. Mehboob Noonari, Chairman YDA Sindh. The session was attended by Dr. Hamza Sohail, General Secretary YDA Karachi Division, Dr. Ummul Khair Shah, Information Secretary YDA Karachi Division, Muhammad Ali, Spokesperson YDA JPMC, and Dr. Sanagar, President YDA NICH, along with other senior representatives.
During the meeting, all participants unanimously agreed to strengthen YDA’s presence across Karachi by establishing organizational bodies in all districts and announcing organizing committees in major tertiary care government hospitals.
The house expressed serious concern over the shortage of employees in tertiary care hospitals, particularly in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where no new government appointments have been made for the past 12 years. It was noted that many department heads have retired and the hospital urgently requires the appointment of a full-time Resident Medical Officer (RMO).
The meeting also highlighted the acute shortage of medicines in district hospitals across Karachi and stressed the need for immediate action to ensure uninterrupted medical supplies.
Furthermore, the YDA called upon the Sindh Government to provide a clear and transparent deputation policy to address existing ambiguities affecting medical professionals.
The YDA Karachi leadership reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights of doctors and improving healthcare services across the city.
