KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Karachi Zone has carried out a major operation against an illegal medicine manufacturing factory in Malir and arrested one suspect during the raid.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the action was conducted by the Corporate Crime Circle on the directives of the Director FIA Karachi Zone after receiving confidential information regarding the preparation of medicines without a valid license.
During the raid, officials arrested Faisal Shahid from the spot, who was stated to be the owner and operator of the factory. A large quantity of raw material, finished medicines, and machinery used for production was also recovered.
The spokesperson said the seized material has been handed over to Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan officials for legal action and custody as per rules.
FIA said further investigation is under way to trace other individuals involved in the network. Authorities stated that action against those endangering public health through fake and illegal medicines would continue without leniency.
