KARACHI: Sindh achieved 87 per cent vaccination coverage during the first three days of the ongoing September Sub-National Polio Vaccination Campaign, with 8.59 million children vaccinated against the crippling disease across selected districts of the province, according to the Sindh Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
The fourth day of the campaign is underway across 30 districts of Sindh, with vaccination teams continuing their efforts to reach children who were missed or unavailable during initial visits.
According to the Sindh EOC, campaign teams are conducting revisits and district-specific follow-up activities to ensure that children who could not be vaccinated during the first visit are reached.
The Sub-National Polio Campaign is being conducted from September 21 to 27 across 30 districts of Sindh and aims to vaccinate nearly 10 million children against polio.
The Sindh EOC urged parents and caregivers to cooperate with polio workers visiting their homes, saying vaccination teams were reaching communities with a message of protection for every child.
Families travelling during the campaign have also been advised to call the Sehat Tahaffuz Helpline at 1166 so vaccination teams can assist in reaching their children wherever they are.
The EOC said the 1166 helpline is available for vaccination-related information, assistance, complaints and feedback, and urged families to use the service to help ensure that no eligible child is missed during the campaign.
