YDA Sindh Delegation Visits Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Raises Doctors’ Stipend, Security and Administrative Issues

KARACHI: A high-level delegation of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh, led by its Chairman Dr. Mehboob Ali Noonari, visited Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and held meetings with the hospital administration to discuss issues affecting doctors, postgraduate trainees and house officers, including delayed stipends, pending financial bills, security concerns and administrative difficulties.

The delegation included YDA Sindh Vice Chairman Dr. Mehran Sher, YDA Karachi Division representative Dr. Hamza Sohail and YDA Abbasi Shaheed Hospital President Dr. Ayesha Jawed.

During the visit, Dr. Mehboob Ali Noonari met with Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Director Dr. Faisal Samdani and Medical Superintendent Dr. Babar to review the working conditions of doctors and discuss measures aimed at resolving longstanding concerns.

Dr. Noonari appreciated the hospital administration's efforts to improve healthcare services and address doctors' grievances. He also expressed gratitude to Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad for their efforts in bringing the salaries of doctors working at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital at par with those employed by the Sindh government.

The YDA Sindh chairman described the salary parity initiative as a positive development for doctors serving at the hospital and emphasized the importance of addressing their remaining financial and professional concerns.

During the meetings, the delegation highlighted delays in stipend payments to postgraduate trainees and house officers, outstanding financial bills, security-related challenges and other administrative issues affecting the hospital's medical workforce.

Dr. Noonari stressed the need for timely disbursement of stipends and resolution of pending financial matters, saying that unnecessary delays create difficulties for young doctors undergoing professional training.

He also called for greater transparency and efficiency in the induction and training processes for postgraduate trainees and house officers.

According to Dr. Noonari, a transparent and merit-based induction system would ensure equal opportunities for eligible doctors, reduce administrative complications and strengthen confidence in the hospital's training arrangements.

The YDA Sindh chairman assured Hospital Director Dr. Faisal Samdani that the association would continue to cooperate with the administration and Medical Superintendent in resolving doctors' legitimate concerns and improving the hospital's working environment.

He emphasized that effective coordination between doctors' representatives and hospital management was essential for addressing institutional challenges and ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services for patients.

Dr. Noonari reiterated that YDA Sindh remained committed to protecting doctors' professional rights, promoting their welfare and supporting constructive reforms in public healthcare institutions.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining dialogue with the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital administration to ensure that outstanding issues involving doctors, postgraduate trainees and house officers are addressed through mutual cooperation.
