KARACHI: More than 9.41 million children have been vaccinated against polio across 30 selected districts of Sindh during the first four days of the ongoing Sub-National Polio Vaccination Campaign, with overall campaign coverage reaching 95 percent, according to the Sindh Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
The campaign is continuing across 30 selected districts of the province and will run until September 27, with polio teams going door-to-door to vaccinate children under five years of age and protect them against the crippling disease.
The Sindh EOC said every child under the age of five must receive two drops of the polio vaccine during the campaign, stressing that polio remains incurable but can be prevented through vaccination.
Officials urged parents and caregivers to cooperate with polio workers visiting their homes and ensure that no eligible child is missed.
“Polio workers are coming to your doorstep with a message of hope,” the Sindh EOC said, appealing to families to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure their children receive the vaccine.
The EOC also advised parents whose children miss vaccination teams to contact the Sehat Tahaffuz Helpline at 1166 or send a WhatsApp message to 0346-7776546 for assistance in getting their children vaccinated.
The campaign will continue through September 27, with vaccination teams focusing on reaching eligible children across the selected districts and ensuring maximum coverage.
