ISLAMABAD: The first nationwide polio vaccination campaign of 2026 will be conducted across Pakistan from February 2 to February 8, aiming to protect millions of children from the crippling disease, according to the National Emergency Operations Center (National EOC).

During the seven-day campaign, more than 45 million children under the age of five will be administered polio vaccine drops across the country. To achieve this target, over 400,000 polio workers will be deployed nationwide to carry out door-to-door immunization activities.

The National EOC said that Punjab will cover over 23 million children, while Sindh will vaccinate more than 10.6 million children. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, over 7.2 million children will receive polio drops, and in Balochistan, the campaign will target more than 2.6 million children.
Similarly, more than 460,000 children will be vaccinated in Islamabad, over 228,000 children in Gilgit-Baltistan, and more than 760,000 children in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the EOC added.

Emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility, the National EOC stated that protecting children from polio is a shared national duty. Parents have been urged to fully cooperate with polio teams and ensure that all children under five years of age receive the mandatory two drops during the campaign.

The National EOC reiterated that public cooperation is vital to securing a polio-free future for Pakistan and safeguarding the health of future generations.
