Jamia Binoria Aalamia Signs MoU with ICCBS–University of Karachi on Halal Services

KARACHI: Jamia Binoria Aalamia (JBA), Karachi, and the Halal Certification, Testing and Research Services (HCTRS) at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in Halal-related research and training.

The MoU aims to promote collaboration between the two institutions in areas of mutual interest, particularly in Halal certification, testing, research, and capacity building.

The agreement was signed during a meeting held at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director ICCBS, and Sheikh Farhan Naeem, Vice President of Jamia Binoria Aalamia, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions in the presence of senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah said that HCTRS–ICCBS is a well-reputed and highly productive Halal services center of the University of Karachi, offering a comprehensive one-window solution for Halal certification, laboratory testing, training, and research. He said that ICCBS is the only public-sector research institution in Pakistan providing integrated Halal services and is committed to maintaining international standards of quality and excellence in laboratory operations.

He further described ICCBS as one of the largest research establishments in the country and a leading center of excellence in chemical, biological, and biochemical sciences, attracting researchers and scholars from Pakistan and abroad.

It was also highlighted that Jamia Binoria Aalamia, through its Department of Fiqh-ul-Halal at the Center of Advanced Islamic Studies and Research, is a renowned international seminary and academic institution with a strong focus on Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary research.

Under the MoU, both institutions have agreed to jointly undertake research and training initiatives and to enhance academic, scientific, and technological cooperation in the Halal sector. The collaboration will involve faculty members, researchers, auditors, and professionals working in Halal-related fields.

The agreement also provides for joint Halal audits, training programs, research activities, conferences, symposia, workshops, and seminars to be organized at the premises of both institutions. These activities aim to promote knowledge sharing and practical exposure for students, faculty, and professionals associated with the Halal industry.
