Indus Hospital Announces Infectious Diseases Center in Memory of Dr. Naseem Salahuddin

KARACHI: The Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) on Saturday paid tribute to Pakistan’s renowned physician and infectious diseases expert, Dr. Naseem Salahuddin, during a condolence reference held at Indus University Hospital Karachi, where healthcare professionals, social figures, colleagues, students and admirers gathered to honor her extraordinary contributions to medicine.

The event was attended by Chairman Board of IHHN Abdul Karim Pracha, President IHHN Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, CEO Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi, Head of Campus Dr. Syed Shafeeq Haider, Medical Director Dr. Ashar Alam, Board Member Abdul Hameed Paracha, Dr. Saima Saeed, Dr. Muhammad Shamwil Ashraf, Dr. Ghina Shamsi, Dr. Nasir, Dr. Saima Ali and several prominent members of the healthcare community.

Speakers paid glowing tribute to Dr. Naseem Salahuddin’s lifelong services to medicine, particularly her pioneering work in the field of infectious diseases. They described her as an institution in herself whose dedication, professionalism and commitment inspired generations of doctors and healthcare workers across Pakistan.

The speakers noted that Dr. Naseem Salahuddin saved countless lives through her work and made invaluable contributions to the prevention and treatment of rabies and tuberculosis. They said her expertise and guidance had greatly benefited Sindh’s healthcare sector over the years.

Addressing the gathering, IHHN Chief Executive Officer Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi said Dr. Naseem Salahuddin never compromised on principles and remained deeply committed to her profession throughout her life.

President IHHN Dr. Abdul Bari Khan said Dr. Naseem Salahuddin devoted her life to the service of humanity and played a pioneering role in the fight against rabies. He said her mission would continue through the efforts of the institution and the healthcare professionals she inspired.

In recognition of her outstanding services, Chairman Board of IHHN Abdul Karim Pracha announced the establishment of the “Dr. Naseem Salahuddin Center of Excellence for Infectious Diseases.” He said the center would continue her mission and vision by advancing research, treatment and training in infectious diseases.

Participants at the condolence reference highlighted Dr. Naseem Salahuddin’s role as a mentor, teacher and guide for generations of physicians. Many senior consultants and faculty members present at the ceremony were among her former trainees and residents who later became leading figures in the medical profession.

Speakers recalled her clinical excellence, discipline, humility and unwavering commitment to ethical medical practice, saying her influence extended far beyond patient care and left a lasting mark on Pakistan’s healthcare system.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the departed physician and a renewed pledge by the medical community to uphold the values of service, compassion and professional excellence that defined Dr. Naseem Salahuddin’s life and legacy.
