KARACHI: The Healthcare Alliance at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has warned of a major protest against the hospital administration if a First Information Report (FIR) is not registered against those involved in the recent assault on doctors by the midnight deadline.

The warning came during the first meeting of the Healthcare Alliance JPMC, convened by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) JPMC Unit at Ward No. 17.
The meeting was attended by leaders and representatives of several healthcare organisations, including Peoples Paramedics, MPM Pakistan, Pakistan Paramedical Staff, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), and the Nursing Association.

Participants strongly condemned the violence against doctors and expressed serious concern over the continued failure to register an FIR against the alleged perpetrators. They also criticised what they described as delaying tactics by the hospital administration.
According to the alliance, the deadline given to the administration for FIR registration expires at midnight. If the demand remains unmet, healthcare workers will stage a major protest outside the JPMC Administration Block at 12 noon on Wednesday.
The alliance announced that its future course of action would be decided during the protest, including the possibility of boycotting outpatient departments (OPDs), operation theatres and other hospital services.
Representatives of the participating organisations agreed that any decision regarding the suspension of medical services would be taken collectively after consultation.
Dr. Shahid Awan, President of the Young Doctors Association JPMC Unit, demanded immediate registration of an FIR and strict legal action against those responsible for assaulting doctors.
He emphasised that healthcare professionals must be provided with a safe and secure working environment and that violence against medical staff cannot be tolerated.
The Healthcare Alliance reaffirmed its collective commitment to protecting doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare workers, declaring that all participating organisations stand united in their demand for justice and accountability.
The alliance warned that failure to address its demands could lead to an escalation of protests and disruption of hospital services.
