Pakistan to Launch Sub-National Polio Vaccination Campaign from November 2–8 in 97 Districts

ISLAMABAD: The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) for Polio Eradication has announced that a Sub-National Polio Vaccination Campaign will be conducted from November 2 to 8, 2026, across 97 selected districts of Pakistan, targeting more than 23.9 million children under the age of five.

According to the National EOC, the campaign aims to protect children against poliovirus and strengthen the country's ongoing efforts to eradicate the disease.

During the campaign, more than 9.278 million children will be vaccinated in 13 selected districts of Punjab, while over 6.883 million children will receive polio drops in 20 districts of Sindh.

Similarly, more than 4.808 million children will be targeted in 27 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and over 2.217 million children will receive polio vaccination in 31 districts of Balochistan.

In Islamabad, vaccination teams will administer polio drops to more than 447,000 children. Additionally, over 153,000 children will be vaccinated in three selected districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, while more than 183,000 children will be covered in two districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The National EOC has urged parents and caregivers to ensure that every child under five years of age receives polio drops during the upcoming campaign and all subsequent vaccination drives, regardless of previous vaccination status.

Officials emphasised that repeated vaccination is essential to maintaining children's immunity against poliovirus and preventing its transmission.

The National EOC further stressed that providing children with a polio-free future is a shared national responsibility and called upon parents, communities and other stakeholders to extend full cooperation to vaccination teams.

The centre reiterated that sustained public participation, timely vaccination and collective national efforts are crucial to achieving the complete eradication of polio from Pakistan.
