ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing every possible facilitation to students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), following concerns over registration difficulties caused by the prolonged internet shutdown in the region.
The assurance was given during a meeting between Secretary Health, Government of AJK, Brig. Aamer Reza Tippu, Chairman Joint Admission Committee Prof. Dr. Fasal Bashir, PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, PMDC Registrar Brig. Rehan Naqvi (Retd.), and Director Admission Affairs Dr. Imdad Ali Khushuk.
During the meeting, the AJK Health Secretary highlighted the challenges faced by students in completing their MDCAT registration due to internet connectivity issues and requested PMDC to ensure that no eligible student is deprived of the opportunity to appear in the examination.
PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj informed the delegation that the Council had already introduced several special measures to facilitate AJK students. He reiterated that the Government of Pakistan remains committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all eligible candidates.
To accommodate affected students, PMDC extended the MDCAT registration deadline twice with the normal registration fee—from July 8 to July 13, 2026, and subsequently from July 13 to July 23, 2026.
The Council has also allowed registration through WhatsApp, email, and physical submission of applications. Students experiencing registration issues have been advised to contact PMDC directly for assistance. In addition, a dedicated MDCAT examination centre has been established in Islamabad for AJK students, while a focal person has been appointed to facilitate registration and examination-related matters.
During the meeting, PMDC also agreed in principle to establish a PMDC sub-office in AJK to improve access to Council services for students and healthcare professionals. The proposal will be presented before the PMDC Governing Body for formal approval.
The Secretary Health AJK and the Chairman of the Joint Admission Committee appreciated PMDC's timely initiatives and thanked the Council's leadership for ensuring that students from AJK receive every possible support during the MDCAT registration and examination process.
