FIR Registered Over Assault on JPMC Doctors, YDA Demands Immediate Arrest of Suspects

KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) chapter have welcomed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) at Saddar Police Station following an incident in which doctors were allegedly threatened and assaulted while performing their duties in the emergency department of JPMC.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the association described the registration of the FIR as a significant development and a major achievement of the medical community's collective efforts to seek justice and ensure the protection of healthcare professionals.

YDA Sindh expressed gratitude to doctors, healthcare professionals and medical associations for demonstrating solidarity and unity in condemning the incident and demanding legal action against those responsible.

The association, however, stressed that the registration of the FIR was only the first step towards justice and urged investigating officers, police authorities and relevant law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest all suspects involved in the alleged assault.

YDA maintained that individuals responsible for threatening, intimidating or physically assaulting doctors on duty must be held accountable under the law to prevent similar incidents in healthcare institutions.

The association reiterated that the safety, security and dignity of doctors were non-negotiable and called for effective measures to ensure a secure working environment at public hospitals.

YDA Sindh and its JPMC chapter reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their efforts for the protection, rights and welfare of doctors across Sindh, emphasizing that violence against healthcare professionals must not be tolerated.
