KARACHI: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has launched a Master’s Degree Program in Climate Change and Environmental Informatics under the European Union Center of Excellence for Climate Change ICT, Climate Active Project, focusing on addressing the environmental challenges of the modern world.
As part of the program, a workshop titled “Statistical Modeling Analytics for Environmental Research” was organized for students by Dr. Waleej Haider. Renowned researcher Dr. Abdul Hameed Pitafi was invited as the keynote speaker for the workshop.
During the session, Dr. Pitafi introduced students to modern data analytics software and explained the use of statistical models for solving environmental challenges through climate-related datasets. He guided students on applying analytical techniques in climate research and environmental problem-solving.
Dr. Abdul Hameed Pitafi holds a PhD and post-doctorate degree in Management Information Systems (MIS). He has authored more than 70 research papers published in W-category journals and is recognized among the world’s top two percent researchers.
The workshop was organized under the supervision of course professor Dr. Waleej Haider and the guidance of Dean Faculty Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aamir. Students appreciated the university’s efforts to enhance their professional skills and termed the workshop a valuable learning opportunity.
