8-Bed High Dependency Unit Inaugurated at Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi

KARACHI: A new High Dependency Unit (HDU) consisting of eight fully equipped beds has been inaugurated at Medical Unit-II of Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi. The facility aims to enhance patient care by providing timely, safe, and continuous monitoring for critically ill patients.

The HDU is equipped with ICU-standard beds, advanced ECG machines, emergency suction machines, and round-the-clock monitoring systems.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials of the hospital, including the Head of Medical Unit-II, Professor Dr. Tanveer Alam, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Syed Khalid Bukhari, along with medical staff and media representatives.

Professor Dr. Tanveer Alam acknowledged the hospital administration’s efforts and praised the leadership of Dr. Khalid Bukhari. He said the establishment of the unit is a significant step towards improving healthcare services at the hospital.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Khalid Bukhari said the unit reflects the hospital’s commitment to providing dignified and quality treatment to the public despite limited resources.

The new unit is expected to strengthen the hospital’s critical care capacity and serve as a bridge between general ward care and intensive care services.
