Bangladesh High Commissioner Visits Dow University to Explore Academic Collaboration

KARACHI: Bangladesh High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan, along with a delegation, called on Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Prof. Dr. Nazli Hossain at the VC Board Room to discuss prospects of academic collaboration and student exchange programmes between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sajida Qureshi, Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq, Principal Dow Medical College Prof. Dr. Saba Sohail, Dr. Sanam Somro, Dr. Tayyaba, Principal Dow International Medical College Uzma Bukhari, and Principal Dow College of Pharmacy Sumbul Shamim. The Bangladeshi delegation comprised Deputy High Commissioner Saqib Sadaqat and Press Counsellor Tayyab Ali.

During the meeting, the head of the Bangladeshi delegation appreciated Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission for offering opportunities to Bangladeshi students under the Allama Iqbal Scholarship Programme, stating that such initiatives encouraged students to seek quality education in Pakistan and strengthened academic linkages between the two countries.

The delegation discussed matters of mutual interest, academic facilities, and future avenues of collaboration, and expressed interest in facilitating admissions for Bangladeshi students at Dow University.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nazli Hossain said that in accordance with HEC guidelines and regulations, Dow University would extend academic facilities to Bangladeshi students. She underscored DUHS’s commitment to quality education and the promotion of international academic partnerships.

The visiting delegation praised Dow University’s academic standards, faculty competence, and modern facilities, noting that Bangladeshi students would greatly benefit from studying at the institution.
The delegation also commended the Government of Pakistan’s efforts to normalize and strengthen relations with Bangladesh. The High Commissioner said Pakistan and Bangladesh were bound by Islamic brotherhood and that enhanced cooperation could open new opportunities in the education sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nazli Hossain presented a commemorative shield to the High Commissioner, while Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq presented Sindhi caps and ajrak to the members of the visiting delegation.
